Even most invertibrates can feel it. The best way would be clove oil, but, the slegehammer idea would work. It's so fast that a fish as small as a molly, wouldn't feel it if you aim for the head. You should probably just flush him. This sounds incredibly sad, but down there he won't last long. Fish also can not feel pain. They have the emotional capacity to feel scared and stressed, but thats pretty much it. Most fish have not developed enough to understand pain, so as long as it ends up dead without too much suffering, you shouldn't feel badly.
