Best and most humane way to kill sick fish?

My silver molly who is only half grown has an open sore on his gill and has been laying on his side on the bottom all day. I keep thinking hes dead but he is still moving his eye around and breathing some. I think he’s probably not having much fun and doesn’t stand must of a chance of recovering. Whats the most humane and painless way to kill a sick fish?

not much u can do:1. Flush 2. Suffocate
although i have heard if you tap its head pretty lightly against the glass side itl die straight away
Any way you can think of. You should probably just flush him. This sounds incredibly sad, but down there he won’t last long. Fish also can not feel pain. They have the emotional capacity to feel scared and stressed, but thats pretty much it. Most fish have not developed enough to understand pain, so as long as it ends up dead without too much suffering, you shouldn’t feel badly.
Flushing a dead or dying fish is hard, but just remember that its going to a better place. I’m sorry bud, I know how it feels.
shoot him with a shotgun! lol no but maybe a sledge hammer, instantly dead. thankfully I havnt had to kill any fish yet.
feed it to me!!!!
Actually it’s a proven scientific fact fish CAN feel pain.
Even most invertibrates can feel it.
The best way would be clove oil, but, the slegehammer idea would work. It’s so fast that a fish as small as a molly, wouldn’t feel it if you aim for the head.
I say you give him a chance at recovering. You’d be surprised what kind of injuries fish can survive.
Sorry for your loss..
Hey, sorry to hear that. I’ll hope for the best, but for your convenience there was a question on this awhile back that was very informative from all the answerers. I suggest checking it out.
put it in a cup of water and put it in the freezer.
