You don’t need a special kind of black light, i just pulled one off of my lamp thing, put it in my tank light in my canopy, and trust me it is NOT worth it, it makes everything look cloudy. You can, however get a moonlight which make it look like moon light is in your tank, only really works at night though. Get them at your local pet store.

they make soft blue lights that “glow”. just get a blue light that is light blue — not the blue you can see through. black lights will make all the junk in your water you had no idea were there glow.

Blacklight is fine for fish, not so much for plants. I wouldn’t strip the fish of all natural light and keep them under blacklight for their entire existence, but it is not harmful as an occasional effect.

I’m not so sure about black lights for animals without fur. I know mice get sunburned really fast under black lights. I wouldn’t recomend it.
