Aquarium DIY CO2 Drop Checker

Here is a step by step of making a DC. I found the plastic containers at Hobby Lobby, they are paint mixing cups with very tight fitting lids. The tubing is 1/2 in. thin wall from the pet store.

Are those containers ok for an aquarium? The plastic isn’t bad? Have you have and problems?
how does it work? i do not understand how can it show the co2 level in the water.
I took a few ideas off of your video to make one myself. Until i get myself a smaller bottle.
this video is awesome! i’d love for you to make it part of the videos at AquariaSpot, com so all the other members could benefit from it. Great DIY!
Thats cool like “ph therometer” hehe thats REALLY COOL!
specifically for checking the disolved CO2
that right there is a fail comment.
learn your terminology please.
a drop checker will tell you the ph of water without touching the water.
its a CO2 drop checker a.k.a bubble counter
Just take 1 gallon of R/O water, get yourself some of baking soda and a KH water test kit, then measure the KH of the water before adding baking soda and start adding small quantities of baking soda until you get 4dKH. If your test throws the measure in ppm KH you will need to multiply by 0.056 in order to obtain dKH.
Great Project.
Considering that you were able to find your way here, its astonishing that you cannot read.
hi.. i have a homemade co2 system..
what is that thing u made? what does it do?
does that check the ph and kh?
please tell me more about that thing:)
thx
Isnt this the same as the diy crack pipe
STOP BITING YOUR NAILS! it would cost me more to make that than it would just to buy one, worth doing if you already have the parts and tools i guess
could you post a guide on how to make the 4dKH solution ?
excellent video!
Great presentation. I think it is not safe to use a blade as you did, though. My sound doesn’t work, thus need to know what did you glue the pieces together.
oh I see, I dont have a c02 system yet I built the diy co2 this weekend, Im gonna try it out,I dont know how good it will do on a 55gallon reef tank.
It’s to measure the amount CO2 dissolved in water for plants. It’s only really useful if you’re purposly injecting CO2 into your tank water.
what is this for? Im very experienced in marine tanks but Im unsure of what this does?
