okay. i want to get a mini shark. (somewhere between 5″- 10″)
i was just wandering, roughly how much (in the UK) would an appropriate tank cost?
and how much would the shark itself cost?
i read about arius seemani. they seem an appropriate size.
thanks alot

All freshwater sharks are either catfish or some type of minnow. Your suggestion is a catfish. It grows to a max of 14 inches. Most catfish are very active, and a few of them can be called tankbusters they grow so large. For the catfish you looked at, youd need at the least a 125 gallon aquarium. Preferably more than that. Most catfish are less than 5 bucks. This should be no exception.
If you want a true shark, youll need at least 200 gallons and saltwater experience. They are the bamboo sharks. They cost about 150-200 bucks. There are other true sharks for sale (tipped reef sharks come to mind) but need at least 3000 gallons and they cost about 2500$ for each one.
idk what u mean by mini shark if u mean saltwater sharks then u’ll be in for like 2,000$-3,000$ if u wantagressive fish get a freshwater tank maybe 30-40 gallons and get either a black piranha a elong or red bellies i have a black and 3 red bellies awesome fish and easy to take care of but if u mean freshwater probly like 200$ 175$ for tank and 25$ for fish
Prices can vary city to city depending on availibility and demand.
I would go to several pet stores (or call) and price them out. You may have ask the store to order the shark.
I got my 55g gallon when they were blowing them out due to accidently overstocking them.
Best of Luck!
The shark will be fairly cheap, the tank wont be. Those Columbian sharks grow quite big, and need at least a 4ft brackish water tank.
A rainbow shark or red tail shark may be a better option as they dont dont need as much space and can live in fresh water all their life.
Bala sharks are easy enough to keep, but think even bigger tanks, 6ft tank for adults, and they need to be kept in a group.

if its fresh water then a 10 gal. you could get a red tail shark
I’m assuming you mean freshwater sharks, which are in fact members of the Cyprinid family which includes carp. These fish range in size from around 15cm/6″ to 50cm/20″ and the size of tank required will depend on the species.
Marine sharks aren’t recommended, they are very difficult to keep and are best left in their natural habitat.
is it necessary to keep filter pump in aquarium for home ?
how to take care of shark fish ?
