Gar Tank

OK………I have had a few requests to see my longnose gar so here he is. I have learned so much by watching the feeding habits of this little guy and has helped me understand the species better. I am working on a bigger tank for him because he is almost 17 inches long now.

Do such heavily planted “aquascaped” tanks clean themselves?
I mean tanking dozens or hundreds of plants once a week to siphon sounds nearly impossible.

I find that bottom feeders, like Plecos, snails, and crayfish maintain cleanliness just fine. May want to skip the crayfish though sometimes… they’re carnivores. Other than that, a very light scouring pad like a Chore Boy sponge gets rid of that grim on the glass.

I am going to breed convicts soon and want to make my aquarium look nice too, what’s a plant that looks nice with these cichlids? I can’t seem to picture the fish with the plants, so I have decided to ask people with experience. Thank you!

Most cichlids will just destroy live plants, just cos they can.
