Suitable Tank Size For A Fire Eel?

Hey guys, I was wondering whats a suitable tank size for a Fire Eel? I am new to aquariums and stuff and wanted a fire eel, but have no idea what things I should put and what size the tank should be. Also, I know tanks are expensive since petco has 50 gallons for 200 dollars and stuff, whats a good cheap tank for them?

Gerbil Bedding Ideas???????

Hey guys, thanks for looking at my question. I finally got my aquarium tank for the gerbils I’m getting. Here’s a quick picture of it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/52545908@N02/4975227456/ Remember, it’s only for two gerbils. lol. Okay, so, if you’ve been looking at my other question about Gerbils, here’s another. Are there any kinds of good bedding that your gerbil likes. Like brands or something, is kind of what I mean. You can obviously see I have no bedding and only two chewy things. I’ve got a water bottle and a Nice size food dish. Again, if you have any good bedding brands or places I can get them. I’m going to Tractor Supply this weekend with my dog group for a fundraiser, so if you know for a fact there are Gerbil supplies there and an idea of about how much it costs, tell me please. :) Also, any kind of toys your gerbils like in particular?? Everything is appreciated :)

Does This Sound Like Normal Fish Behavior?

my guppy is very active most of the time. he swims around quickly and is very happy it seems but sometimes he just kinda chills towards the top and by the heater. i bought 2 more guppies recently and they seemed sick, i took them out of the tank after 1 died and the other got fin rot very beginning stage not much decomposition. i know that guppies r schooling fish and that’s y i got the other guppies. my guppy eats a lot sometimes and other times not a whole lot. is all this normal?
also i have 2 neon tetras. i know they r schooling fish too. they seem ok they swim around a lot but sometimes they seem sluggish. i have a little bit of salt in my water to kinda help keep bacteria and parasites away and now i know tetrasdon’tt really like salt but they seem to be doing ok? even though they are losing a little bit of color will they be ok? and wood kinda keeping the salt level at what it is help a little too? my 10 gal tank has all necessities and a few live plants to help with the cycles.

What Are My Options? I Can’t Decide If I Should Move My Fry?

I have fry that are about 4 or 5 months old…I started out with ten, but recently I wanted to clean out the food that had settled in the bottom of the tank. Now, I don’t have a suction small enough to clean the 5 gallon tank I have them in, so stupid me decided to scoop the rocks out. I didn’t think it through, [I have a problem where most of my plans are only half-baked] and I ended up getting a fry stuck in the net. I put it back, but it died a day later. Since then, they’ve been dying off. Three are reasonably good sized, but the other four are tiny. I want to move them to the bigger tank [55 gallon], but I’m concerned about them being sick. What if they kill the other fish? Could they be dieing because the tank they are in is filthy? I’m really at a loss. Even though I’ve done tons of research, this is only my second fry batch, and my mom took care of the first so I’m not sure what to do. Please help. How should I handle this? If I do put the bigger ones in the bigger tank, would they be able to handle the filter?

Aquarium canister filter help!?

Question by clueless1908: Aquarium canister filter help!?
I have a Penn Plax Cascade 1000 aquarium canister filter. It has been running fine for the 2 months I’ve had it without any issues. Recently the filter has been making a gurgling sound and then a couple of seconds later a bunch of bubbles spews out of the filter output. This cycle happens every few minutes.
I am a complete “canister filter” noob. Any help that someone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Gabe
The intake tube is about a foot in to the water, water level is full & there is no noticeable damages to the tubes

Your filter is sucking in air from somewhere.
This won’t necessarily damage the filter, but the filter won’t run as efficiently with air trapped in it.
Could the intake tube have moved to where it’s near the air surface, or could the water level have dropped? Could their be a leak in the hoses running from the intake to the filter canister?
