Hermit Crabs: Nice Experts Only?

Okay, So after several questions, and several nasty remarks from “Tash” I have set up the best hermit crab habitat that i can think of. I set up a 10 gallon tank and went to ac moore and got 10 pounds of play sand and put it in there. I also bought shells at acmoore and put some of the ones about the right size in there. Then i put in a hermit crab pond, and a few aquarium stones from the dollars store and a shell that has a walnut and a slice of cucumber in it. I also have another pond. It is actually a clay thing that you put under a pot, so the water doesn’t get everywhere, but i figured it might work as a shallow pool, and it was cheap. i also have two peices of chaya wood in their and a shelter i made myself consisting of two VERY tiny clay pots that hold up a peice of a cardboard box that provides shade. I didn’t have very much money, so i tried to do what i could. For those of you who know what you are doing, is this all right? I am trying very hard. i felt so badly that i was keeping them in tiny little cages i got from the store. i was slowly killing them, but i had to save up my money to get them something because i am only a teenager. I tried to do the absolute best i could. If you could give me any more advice on them, that would be great, and if you could tell me if what i did was right/wrong, that would be great too. Also, do you know any common howehold items that they like? I am trying everything that i possibly can and have gone through a lot of work to do this, so please don’t say anything really nasty. I don’t mind a little help, but nastiness i really don’t tolerate. I apprecaite everything that you guys out there can help me with you are fantastic and thank you so much!!

Goldfish Is Dying, Other Goldfish Already Showing Signs Of Mourning. Should I Get A New Fish….?

I have two goldfish and they had been pretty healthy up until this point. It seemed like all at once they started getting sick. My little one got swim bladder, fixed that, a day later she had fin rot which progressed so much over night that she no longer has a tail. She is now completely healthy even though she now swims a little funny but two days ago I noticed her best friend was laying on the bottom and the lower half of his body was slightly lighter than the top half. The next day I woke up and he had no scales on his lower body so I went to the pet store got some medication and started treating him yesterday. After I gave him the medication a few hours later he swam to the top of the water from laying on the bottom, I thought this was a good sign until this morning he is laying sideways leaning against the glass and will not swim away even if I tap on the glass. The only way I can even tell if hes still alive is if I knock on the table and he twitches a little. My little fish (the one that recovered from swim bladder and fin rot) is swimming around him and when he doesn’t move she goes to the bottom of the tank and swims in circles around the whole tank. I have a feeling she’s sad about her buddy getting sick ):. Anyway, I was wondering if I should get a new fish to replace him once I cycle the tank for about a week to make sure everything is okay with my other fish. I don’t want to get another goldfish because I don’t want to feel like I’m replacing my other little guy (I’m really heart broken that I basically have to watch him die.) I was thinking a rosy red minnow or two even though they are feeder fish I feel like my little fish has gotten used to having a friend and she needs someone to play with (She’s very playful for a goldfish). Is there a better option for her new friend that would be relatively small and okay with cold water, or is a rosy red minnow a good choice?

Got A New Betta, Have Some Questions?

I was at my cousin’s wedding yesterday.
At her reception, they had Betta fish in fishbowls as centerpieces.
Afterward they were asking for people to gie them homes.
So I took one with my parent’s permission.
From what I can tell it’s a red veil-tailed male Betta (I can’t see a white spot by the anal fin).
I have NEVER owned a Betta before. When I was little I had a goldfish that lived for 4 years, but I’ve always wanted a Betta because they’re so pretty.
I decided to read up on Betta fish today to make sure he’s properly taken care of, and I discovered my estimate of his care was way off. So I am determined to remedy that ASAP.
So, I have a couple questions:
I understand that they’re tropical fish and need warm water. My room is always rather warm compared to the rest of the house, so the water should be fairly warm.
I have him in the fishbowl I got him in. I believe we still have the 5 gallon tank I kept my goldfish in. If we don’t I’m buying him one tomorrow. But anyways- will he be okay in his bowl tonight?
Tomorrow I’m getting my dad to take me to the pet store (There’s one near us that is a fish store mostly but still sells hamster stuff and crickets and things like that that I want him to take me to).
I’m going to get him a tank (If we don’t have one, if I get one it will probably be a 5-gallon), some new gravel (The stuff currently in his bowl is black and red, my room is purple and turquoise, I want some that matches my room better so it doesn’t look so ridiculous, plus he’ll stick out better with different colored gravel), a heater, a thermometer, some tank conditioner, a few plants (Are fake ones okay? Because we tend to have snail problems when we get live ones because that store doesn’t do too well with keeping live plants snail free (It’s not a problem in our guppy tank because we have a snail eating fish in there)), a little castle or something like that for him to hide in, food, and a little filter to keep the water clean. Is that all I need for him, or do I need other things too?
I would like to change his water tomorrow, because I’m pretty sure he’s just in tap water right now. How should I go about doing that?
I have the top covered because I read that Betta fish jump a lot and if you don’t cover their tanks/bowls you may wake up to a fish on the carpet. It’s clingwrap with lots of little holes in it (It’s really just like some netting but made out of plastic, I want to make sure he has air). Or will he be fine without the cover for tonight? If he won’t be okay with that, I have some tulle and other netting-type fabrics downstairs that I can cover his bowl with that will cover it but let a lot of air in.
He hasn’t eaten in a few days as far as I know, because they bought the fish on Thursday and didn’t feed them. Will he make it to tomorrow afternoon when I get him food? I only have regular fish food that we use for our guppies, and then the tablets you feed bottom feeders. We MAY have some dried shrimp that you feed fish in the basket under our guppy tank, but I don’t think we do.
Basically, my most pressing question is will he be okay until tomorrow in his fishbowl?
Thank you!
By the way, his name is Mister Fishy.

What’s Wrong With Me And What Should I Do?

I’m an 18 year old male and I’m going to be a senior in high school this year. I don’t smoke, I don’t drink and I’m still a virgin. I masturbate a lot, watch porn/fetish videos and draw artwork featuring anime/cartoon characters in fetish situations that I post on the internet.
I’ve had to deal with a lot of bullying and harassment from other kids at school. I’d cry a lot, cut myself and contemplate suicide. Near the end of last year, I had to go to a psychiatric hospital for a week where I was diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder. I was given special medication to take, I see a therapist every few weeks and things have gotten a lot better.
One of my big issues is that I feel alone in the world a lot… I don’t have many friends and I have lots of issues with my parents and family… I like to write and I’ve been working on writing my own fantasy story that focuses on a relationship between a teenage boy and his adopted younger sister, who is based off the late child actress Heather O’Rourke from the Poltergeist films….
I work as a lifeguard at a local sports club. There’s a girl there, about 10 years old now, with blond hair and blue eyes, who reminds me of Heather O’Rourke for some reason… She’s really perky and outgoing. I don’t know why, but I have this messed up obsession with this girl.
Last summer, while I was working at the pool and had to watch the tennis kids play water polo, she talked to me and we ended up in a conversation for a little while. Later, she was waiting with her brothers at the pool for her parents to pick them up. She was playing with a ball and it kept going into the pool and I had to fish it out for her. I was visiting my friend at his new house, I saw her playing outside on the neighbors lawn with some other kids. I asked my friend about this because I was curious about whether that was her or not and it turned out her cousins live there.
Later, this summer, after my whole depression episode, when she and the other kids were playing in the pool, she took off this green ribbon thingy she had in her hair and left it by the pool. I found it after she left and she even came back to the pool for a second and I tried to give it to her, but she couldn’t hear me from where she was. I wanted to give it back to her the next time I saw her but I somehow ripped it accidentally. The next time I worked there I actually placed it around the pool, like on chairs, thinking she might pick it up or ask for it back. I saw her looking at it for a while but she didn’t do anything, so I’ve been holding onto it this whole time. When one of the tennis coaches left their clipboard alone, I looked at it and found out her full name. The club I work at has a facebook page and I found a lot of pictures of her on it. I also discovered that her family was featured on an Internet Web Show where their house was remodeled and discovered she lives like 20 minutes from where I live. I download the episode and all the youtube videos as well as the photos I found of her because I’m afraid I might not ever see her again.
So… I’m thinking I’ve got some sort of behavioral/obsession problem. Nobody knows about this but me. I don’t know if I’m sick in the head, if it’s because this girl reminds me Heather O’Rourke, or because she reminds me also of a character I’m trying to write for a book and I’m basing her off this actual person… Maybe it’s all of both. Maybe I’m just thinking too much or my minds all messed up from the stuff I’ve been through… But for some reason I just really wish I could see this girl more and talk to her like I did before. I wish she was like my cousin or something.
Anyway, I’m sorry for what I’ve done and I want to know what to do about this situation… And what should I do if I see this girl in the future?

What Is This Black Cluster On My Snail?

I got a gold mystery snail today and put it in my aquarium. It started making its way around and as it began climbing up the side of the tank I noticed this tiny black cluster hanging on the edge of its shell. It almost looks like a tiny black anemone is attached to my snail. I have no idea what is but I don’t want it to harm my snail or the other residents of the tank. Please help!

How To Make A Box Turtle Habitat.?

I found a medium sized box turtle and need to know how to care for it. So far it is in a large clothes box. I have an aquarium,it is 10 gallon. I know what to feed it. I just need to know like the housing. I would like to make the aquarium half water half sand and fake plants. How would I make half sand and half water?
Also there is a price budget of about $100 im only 14. But make like $50 a week so would have enough to feed and care for it.
Thanks
