Everything I’ve read advises that a PC will grow to a max size of 6″. As well, everything I’ve read tells me the PC is carnivorous, but as long as a fish is too big to fit in to a PC’s mouth, the PC will leave it alone. Here’s my dilemma: No where can I find what “too big” (for a full grown PC) means.
I would like to have a three PCs, as bottom dwellers, for my 75 gallon tank. I would like to have a shoal of twelve Silver Hatchet Fish, as top dwellers, for the aquarium. I’ve read SHF get to a max size of 3″. Here’s my question: Does a 3″ SHF qualify as “too big” for a full grown PC’s mouth?
I’d also like to know if the fish’s natural tendency(ies) to occupy different levels of the aquarium, which is 20″ high, will play some part in cohesive community living.
Thank you for any input you can provide.
