Breeding Red Bellied Piranha?? Please Answer, :)?

Heyy Guys. I Have two Red Bellied Piranha. Named Bruno And Bronco. ….Well Turns out Bronco Is a girl. Im positive of it.
They have been doing mating circles. (Swimming around in a circle together.) And the female has been hitting her head (Not Hard) into the males side? He just opens his mouth and wiggles? :P
The male is eating TONS. But the female went off food today?
They are about 6 years old. In Perfect health and have beautiful sparkles and red bellies. :)
I Have lots of books on these fish and have everything I need (Besides the plants witch I can get at a pet store) I Have a tank that the babies will stay in separate from the parents.
Oh And They are I guess “Cleaning” A Certain spot of the tank. And They don’t let and goldfish near it (Dinner) I would Take out the goldfish if I Am going to do this. And I would raise the eggs without the parents.
I Have lots of fish Experience.
So you think I should do it?
oh And I could easily find homes for these fish. (Pet sotres, Kijiji, Friends.)
So do you have an tips? Opinions?
I think these are a beautiful fish and ….I really Have nothing better to do with my time. :)
Thank you,
-Mandii

What Type Of Fish Could I Have In A Very Small (1 Gallon) Aquarium?

I don’t have very much space for the tank (dorm room living), but I’d like to keep a fish. Also, a snail would be pretty cool, but I have no idea about how much space they need. Can anyone recommend species of fish / snails that could live in such a small tank? Also, I do have an aerator, but do I need it for a 1 gallon?

How To Remove Rust From An Aquarium Stand?

I got a used aquarium stand at an estate auction and it’s been sitting in their garage a few years collecting rust. I’ve tried a wire brush attachment for a drill and naval jelly so far. Both work a little, but it just seems like I get one spot done and have to stop for a few days, and the three spots I did right before have new rust by the time I get back to it. And neither way really gets into the scrolls that support the legs. I’ve been working on this now going on three weeks, trying to work about 2 hours each day. Is there any faster way of going about this?
It’s just a 30 inch stand, and I’m going to put a 20 gallon long on it, so it’s not all that big. Under the rust, the metal is still in decent shape except for a couple spots on the lower rack where it’s pitted so I don’t want to toss the whole thing.
I’d appreciate any helpful ideas.

I just bought a 55 gallon tank, upgrade from my stinky 5 gallon, lol, major up grade and I was wondering what a good beginner mix of tropical fish? I’ve Just Got Some Iridescent Sharks(dory Catfish Fish) Problems Pls Help!!?

when I talked to the owner of the pet shop they seem happy to tell me that they can’t grow big !
Now I just realize they can grow up to 4 foot long ~got ripped off~
the problem is that I’ve got 4 of them (Baby’s)(so far measured @ 3 inches give or take a couple more)
together with rosy barb’s (friendly with them so far !!)\
in a 2 foot long standard Aquarium
I now know that they can grow to that length and size .. the Question is how long does it take for them to reach that size or how long does it take for them to be consider inappropriate for the size of my tank !!
(seeing as the rosy barbs will still be in the with the catfish !!)
what can i do to delay their growth so as to keep in that tank as long as possible
Can i reduce their food intake so they won’t grow that big ??

Sick Cat, Unhelpful Vet.?

We moved across the country about a month ago. Before we left our cat larry wasn’t eating so I took him into the vet for a check up. I also noticed his stomach was bloated looking (it has been for quite some time- he’s been to the vets office numerous times and each vet has dismissed it).
Background:
Larry is a 9-11 year old male. He’s been a barn cat up until last year when he found and adopted us. Since we’ve had him he’s been treated for severe ear infections (he has polyps so we do our best to manage them) and also has an inoperable growth on the back of his tongue that will likely block his throat at some point meaning we will have to put him down.
All in all we’ve dropped thousands of dollars on this little guy, but he’s worth it. Currently, he is a happy indoor cat with a great personality. When he begins to show signs of discomfort we’ll make the decision to put him down.
Back to my original question- I took him to the vet because he wasn’t eating and his stomach has been bloated. The vet did an X-ray-then said he might have gas.
Gas?! I pulled out my copy of Larry;s medical records and started suggesting things to the vet (I have copies because I’ve taken him to a few different vets for their opinions). The vet agreed to do a blood test to determine if there was anything wrong. He then gave him a steroid shot, pumped him full of liquids, and prescribed oral antibiotics. I brought Larry home and he started eating again/was back to normal. When the lab results came back the vet called and gave my husband this long explanation about how he may or may not have liver disease. The vet then asked how Larry was doing and my husband told him he was back to normal. The vet then said, “That’s odd. I wouldn’t have expected him to get better.”
You can see where this is going. 200 dollars worth of inconclusive tests- basically we were told to keep an eye on him and nothing made sense to the vet.
We’ve been in our new state for a month and Larry has been doing well. He no longer has access to the outdoors (at the old place we couldn’t restrict him) and his ears seem to be much better. Because we suspected he may have liver disease we stopped feeding him anything with fish and have increased his wet food diet. Unfortunatley we have two other cats so eliminating dry food completely is out of the question as it’s out in the open.
I’m writing this because while he’s doing better- his stomach still looks bloated. I bought this expensive brand of drycat food that is mainly meat, unfortunatley I didn’t notice there was also fish in it. That seemed to give him a little bit of a problem but I got rid of it and he seems better.
I guess what I’m asking is if anyone has any ideas or advice as to what I should do.

How to get started with my pure ammonia?

Question by ddog: How to get started with my pure ammonia?
ok i bought ammonia called goldex from canadian tire and many have used it and have had success. It says it contains to phosphates or additives and it does have an ingredient label but a lot of people have used this one. So im going to do a good water change and clean the fish food from my gravel because i tried “feeding my tank” but that didn’t work. So how much ammonia should i add to the tank (20 gal). Can you take be through the step by step and also if used this product and had success please mention it.

1 drop for every 2 gallons, in your case 10 drops, let it sit for 24 hours and test the levels. You want to build up to 5 ppm. But don’t add more than 10 drops in 24 hours, you already have some bacteria probably established in the tank, too much ammonia will shock the tank and you’ll be starting over. Eventually your 10 drops will not cause the ammonia to go up and will continue to go down. When ammonia and nitrite levels are at 0 and nitrates start to rise you are cycled and ready for 1-2 fish.
