Setting Up An Aquarium?

Ok I need help coming up with ideas for my tank. I have a Betta right now but want a bigger tank for him. I’m thinking either 10 or 20 gallons with some other community fish in it. If you were in my situation, which tank would you choose and how would you set it up with what fish? How many fish in each size, what types, what types of decor, etc. Give me ideas! Thanks!

Vegetarians: Any Advice?

well I’m going to try and eat semi-vegetarian for 3 months. I’ll eat fish, eggs, and milk, but no land animals (since from what I’ve heard, they’re tortured the most) that includes chicken, beef, pork, turkey, and the like.
I actually tried to go vegetarian (no fish OR meat) a while ago but I just ended up getting really sick since I’m allergic to beans and hate tofu.
soo..any advice? I wouldn’t actually say I’m allergic to beans but I get pretty sick when I eat them….

Planaria Questions/help?

I just did some research and I found out that my fish tanks are infested with planaria, due to my mom overfeeding our fish. I have some questions about them:
1. How do they appear? Where do they come from? Do they just magically appear? Why only when you overfeed?
2. I heard some fish and snails can eat the planaria? Is this true? What kind of fish/snails/any other animals will eat them?
3. Can these things like burrow into human skin? I’m afraid to clean out my tank.

Sharks, tuna, sunfish, Monterey Aquarium The World’s Best HD

Pacific bluefin tuna Sleek and streamlined, fast and efficient, bluefin tuna travel the oceans of the world. Ranging the Pacific between here and Japan, they travel more than 6000 miles a year. Galapogos shark This shark lives far out to sea, usually around oceanic islands. His lifestyle is still mostly a mystery–scientists know much more about sharks that live near shore. Pacific sardine Like synchronized swimmers, sardines in a school move as one. When predators come near, there’s safety in numbers. ANd when it’s time to reproduce, mates are close at hand. Yellowfin tuna Yellowfin tuna prefer tropical temperatures, so the only time hey visit the outer bay is when strong El Nino currents bring warm, tropical water to Monterey Bay. Pacific bonito This small tuna has to swim to breathe. As it moves, oxygen-rich water flows in its open mouth and past its gills. If it stopped swimming, it would suffocate. Ideas For A Small Goldfish Pond?

I just posted a question about a giant flower pot as a water garden on the front porch, but I also want to build one in the back yard so I can enjoy it from my bedroom window while I’m working at my desk.
The problem is, that it has to be semi-temporary. I plan on moving out in a few years, and no one will be here to maintain it and enjoy it. I can do a preformed pond, but I don’t know if I want to bury it or keep it above ground. I just can’t figure out how to “integrate it” into the land around the back yard, since its just a big open yard. Since I’ll be leaving, I don’t want to spend a lot of time adding rocks and plants around it, so it will basically be a water hole (with plants IN the pond) in the yard.
Any suggestions? Should I just stick with the front porch idea and maybe get an aquarium for my room?

Is This Tank Alright (see Details Please)?

Thanks for reading. I am getting a 20 gallon aquarium with medium sized, smooth gravel, a large ornament that takes up a large portion of the tank, with 3 or 4 holes and lots oh hiding cover. there is much room to swim in front ot the ornament and there will be a few fake plants. I am using a Top FIn 20 filter. There will be 5 red wag platy, 3 Peppered Cories, and two mystery snails- 1 black 1 gold. Any suggestions?

Why Are My Fancy Guppies Acting Weird?

Almost a month ago I bought 2 fancy guppies. 1 male and one female. The male was older and wasn’t interested in mating and the female was already pregnant. She had a baby the next day so now I have 3 fancy guppies, although the baby is in a breeding net. About 2 days ago the female swam in one place, every once in a while she would move if she was bothered. The day before that my algae eater died because I did not notice that my filter was cleaning the tank too fast for him to eat. The day after the female was acting weird she was fine again, except she won’t eat. The male was fine for 2 days, he would swim around normally and eat. But today he is acting weird…he swims in one place now (usually around the female swimming in one place also) and now both of them won’t eat. Now he’s swimming really slow at the top in circles while the female is in the corner of the tank. I also have one more fish about the same size as the guppies and it seems just fine. I also learned that guppies are social fish. I’m thinking that they might be upset or something because there’s only 2 of them in the tank (not including the baby). Any advice?
