Good Beginner Plants For Freshwater Tropical Aquariums?

I have an 8 gallon biocube that has pebbles (natural looking ones) about the size of a wooden pencil eraser, maybe a little bigger.
But I want something that is easy to care for (beginner level), something that you don’t have to have substrate because I already have pebbles in the aquarium, that just grows in the water, that doesn’t need anything else. Please, are there any recommendations and tell me how to care for them and plant them in my aquarium.

Ds: Are You Sick Of This?

Are you sick of kids coming on here and asking:
“MY PARENTZZ ARE SO UNFAIRZ. dey wont lemme git a puppiiiiii. i want a cute lil chiwawa to put in my purse and dey said NO! how do i git dem 2 say yes??!! PLEASE HELP!”
I’m so sick and tired of this.
When I was younger, I would beg my parents for animals. It would start with a dog, then after they said no, it would be a cat, then a guinea pig, then a hamster, then a ferret, then a fish, and so on. We’ve always had one dog and one cat growing up. Then, we added a cat. Then, my mom got a new puppy, and we just started accumulating animals. (We’re up to 14 now.) My mom is a huge animal lover, but I’m assuming she was under the impression that I was not going to take care of them.
After I turned 10, she told me I could get a guinea pig as long as I fed and watered him, played with him, and cleaned his cage. I was extremely loyal to my promises, his bowl always had food, his bottle always filled with water, and his cage was never dirty. I got him out every single day. He was my best friend. When he died, I was devastated. I thank God every day for that guinea pig because I truly do think he taught me what responsibility was. I also think he taught me how animals can be good healers and awesome friends.
Now, I’m only 18, but I understand why my parents did this all of these years and I am so glad they did. Now, I understand what taking care of an animal really means and how expensive it is. I’m moving out soon and getting a dog, and now, because of my parents and my own research the past couple of years, I understand what a huge commitment it is to own one.
I’m so glad my mom is an animal lover and an extremely intelligent woman. I wish kids these days weren’t so spoiled and didn’t get anything they wanted. I wish they had to WORK for these animals and LEARN that an animals is NOT something you just give away when it grows up or when you don’t want it anymore. My mom has always taught me that when you make the decision to get an animal, that animal is with you and in your care until it passes. My family has had multiple animals over the years and we have NEVER surrendered one to a shelter or given them away.
So, dog section, would you like to share your personal stories? I would love to hear them.
LEGIT:
1. What animal (that you own or have owned in the past, or just one that you’ve worked with) has helped you through a hard time in your life?
2. What animal do you think taught you responsibility?
3. Where do your dogs sleep at night?
4. What animals do you own OTHER than dogs?
Thanks, guys!

7 Angelfish In A 5 Gallon Hex Tank For 3 Months?

I’m planning on keeping them in this: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js…
The old proper sized tank got a hole in it due to a vacuum cleaner tipping over. I know it is way to small but I need time to save up for this tank: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js…
Will they survive alright? They are full grown.

What can I keep with a freshwater sunfish?

Question by Jamie C: What can I keep with a freshwater sunfish?
I caught a fresh water sunfish in a lake last year and I’ve been keeping it in a 10 gallon tank since then. It seems kind of lonely, (not sure of gender) but is there any other kind of fish I could keep with it in a 10 gallon? What would it fight with/ not fight with? Also, if I could keep an underwater frog or small turtle let me know. Thanks in advance! =D
MORE DETAILS….. it is full size and 3 or 4 inches long… i believe it might actually be a pygmy sunfish

Two part fish question….?

Question by Susie D: Two part fish question….?
I recently purchased my children a 20 gallon aquarium and 3 of the fancy goldfish, and they appear to be doing well. Tip to tail each is currently about 2 inches.
My questions are:
When I was younger my tank not only had a filter but an aerator as well – this “full set-up” I purchased did come with one. Is the filtration system enough, or should I consider an aerator for better fish health and happiness?
My second question is what kind of fish co-habitate nicely with goldfish? My children have been eyeing up some neons and other tropicals but I have held off because of other fish already in the tank.

I keep tank temp at about 75-76 degrees.

Any advice would be appreciated – I want happy kids and happy fish….lol
Sorry – bad at proofreading this morning it should read the kit did NOT come with an aerator – sorry. Not enough coffee yet this morning.

Don’t get Angel Fish, they like to eat other fish and have be kept separate.
