Question by dumpster dave: is there something wrong with my “Pleco”?
my pleco used to be mostly dark brown colored, but he is developing more and more tan patches on him. he dose’nt seem sick or anything. it just looks like big birthmarks you would see on a person. can you answer this question correctly? please do not answer if you are not absolutly sure.

It is very common for fish to change colors as they mature. Many different fish such as rainbow sharks (fresh water) change colors 3-4 times in their lifespan.

The pleco’s change colors to blend into their surrounding and hide from predators. The tan patches are supposed to look like the knots on a log as they eat the algae off of underwater tree’s/logs.

Q&A: Betta divider for 2.5 gal MiniBow?

Question by California Guy: Betta divider for 2.5 gal MiniBow?
Hi everyone. I have a 2.5 gal minibow aquarium. It didn’t come with the betta divider though. Does anyone know where I can buy an ORIGINAL minibow divider? Or, what’s the next best divider? Has anyone had any luck with generic dividers in a minibow?

By the way, I’m NOT going to use it to separate two male bettas. “Betta divider” is what the product is commonly referred to on the internet. I’m just looking for a MiniBow Divider, or next best generic divider.

Don’t divide it. 2.5 gallons is enough for ONE betta and that’s it.

Unless this is only a temporary home for the bettas, then I would just get some needlepoint mesh from walmart or a hobby shop and use it to divide the tank.

Which “Tiger Barb” combination is much better?

Question by jerich_king: Which “Tiger Barb” combination is much better?
2 male and 3 female tiger barb or 3 male and 2 female tiger barb? Which of these choices is the best combination for them to spawn?

Best answer:

Answer by Army Ninja
Try two males and 4 females. This ensures makes aggression levels go down because tiger barbs need to be in groups of at least six so they don’t single out on fish and pick on him or her. And also when spawning fish you want their to be one male to two or more female ratios.
