Question by dumpster dave: is there something wrong with my “Pleco”?
my pleco used to be mostly dark brown colored, but he is developing more and more tan patches on him. he dose’nt seem sick or anything. it just looks like big birthmarks you would see on a person. can you answer this question correctly? please do not answer if you are not absolutly sure.

It is very common for fish to change colors as they mature. Many different fish such as rainbow sharks (fresh water) change colors 3-4 times in their lifespan.
The pleco’s change colors to blend into their surrounding and hide from predators. The tan patches are supposed to look like the knots on a log as they eat the algae off of underwater tree’s/logs.
