General Freshwater aquarium questions (Nitrate problem/ ph)?

So I have a 55 gallon that has been setup and fully running and cycled for about 4 months now. When ever I test my water after water change the nitrate is height, and the ph is at 8.4. Could this be because my aquarium is fully populated? About the ph, I did have some rocks in there, then I suspected them leaking, took them out, did water changes, and no progress. And when ever I do water changes nitrate stays at 40/60 ppm.
On another topic, I have questions about bala sharks. Do they have to be kept in groups? And is it possible to keep two happy in a 55 gallon by themselves? Thanks in advance guys!
I was just wondering about the bala sharks. I do water changes every week

Problem with my irredescent sharks..?

I bought a pair a few weeks ago for my 35 gallon tank ( I was later told that they will grow far too large for this tank, but the orig. pet store guy told me they would be fine)

Anyway, one of them was dead this morning, the other has foggy eyes, and his color is very very dull.. I also noticed he has red on his underside ( if he were human I would say right around where his groin would be)

I bought some aquarium salt, and put it in as directed ( he warned not to over-do it because sharks are less likely to deal well with it) So anyway I did the salt, and a 20% water change..

Any ideas as to what could be wrong with him? The pet store owner suggested that because of his eyes, he could have run into something and injured himself… I’m just kinda worried, I dont want to lose another, but he’s not lookin too great right now.. He’s swimming mainly at the top ( we do have lots of bubbles for oxygen)Any ideas what might be wrong? Especially with the red on his underbelly..

Suggestions???

I just got 2 awesome fish in my small tank!! :D Is it normal for the tank to be a little cloudy at first?

The tank is clean! Is it normal to be a little cloudy at first? :D

Is everything going to be alright with my fish tank?

I have a 125 gallon tank that has been running now for about a month .. I have an Eheim 2217 canister filter and also an Emperor 3000 hanging filter .. The occupants of the tank include three 3″ oscars, three 3″ blood parrots, and two 3″ plecos .. All fish seem to be fine except for one oscar who developed a cloudy eye, now he is in a 10 gallon “hospital tank” being treated with Melafix .. I did an ammonia test today on the 125 gallon and it came back with high levels .. I did a 25% water change by using the gravel syphon and plan to do so for the next couple of days until the ammonia level goes down .. Is this the right way to attack this? Also is this happening because my filter has not yet cycled?

PS .. I do not have the nitrate/nitrite readings
My tank is six feet long x 24 inches high x 18 wide… the pet shop said this would be enough space to house my fish (even when they are adult size)

i’m new at the fish tank thing.. can someone please help!?

i recently got a 10 gallon starter kit and set it up. i added a small calico goldfish. then about 1 1/2 weeks later i put another small calico in. now my water is very cloudy. i don’t know what to do. i went out and bought some crystal clear. it said to put one drop in for every gallon, so i did and my water is still cloudy. any suggestions???

also i changed my blue filter before i added the drops.

Rearranging Rocks ?

In my 55 gallon I have 2 lava rocks, driftwood and another red rainbow rock, and it’s been set up like that for about 3 months. I do have a large pleco, 3 botias and a Spottied Pimelodus who all hang out on the bottom of the tank, and I wanted to rearrange the rocks totally different from how they are now. I want to use the rocks as a hide out in one corner of the tank. B/C the pleco will go sick on the other fish and chase them and I wanted to give them a safeway.
Do you think the fish will mind during the rearranging, and after? I know they will get used to it again, but I may not even like it myself. Should I just let it be, I really want to give the pleco more swimming space, while providing a better hide out for the other fish.
Ahh…Thank you
