I set up the tank on Saturday. It has water mixed with stress coat water conditioner and a filter which has been running most of the time. Can I just introduce my axolotl straight away or do I have to do something else? I’ve been hearing stories about dead fish etc. Please help thanks
Can I just do more frequent water changes, like 20% changes twice a day, until I have bacteria there? Instead of cycling I mean
I have just purchased a 20 gallon tank, but still have A LOT of other things to buy. I have the tank, the gravel, and one filter. I still have to get the filter cartridges, “so to speak”, another filter (because I recently found out that my filter isnt enough filtration.) , a heater, a hood&light, water conditioner, a bucket, a siphon, a net, aquarium salt, and a liquid test kit. Is this everything I will need just to cycle the tank? Do I put decor in when cycling? I will still need to purcahse a thermometer and an ammonia and pH monitor for after cycling. Then the fish!
Im not sure how to start off cycling. Do I just start the tank like I would have fish in it and just let it run? I heard something about using media from an already cycled tank, but I dont have any relatives or friends with a fish tank. Would that speed the process up? Also, what about bacteria in a bottle? Is that effective? I really just need to know everything about cycling! Ive printed off a couple of instructions, but I dont really understand them…
I recently bought a 10 gallon tank and have a black moore, 2 fantails, and today I purchased a comet goldfish. Would it be possible to leave the tank or will I eventually have to get a bigger tank? Also he tends to eat all the food how can I give my other fish equal food?
I have a cage already that has wires and tubing. I just don’t want it to get stuck in the tubing.I used to have another hamster but she was smaller than the one I want. I have a huge bin I could use and I have a 10 gallon fish tank that I used to have my fish in but then I got it a bigger tank. I don’t want it to chew through the plastic bin. Also the tank might not be big enough for my future hamster. I already have her picked out I just need to find what tank I get before I buy her. Also if i use the fish tank how do i get the water bottle to stay in the tank. Im need a lot of help!
is there anything i should know?can i keep my chinese algae eater for the algae?what fish can i get.i know theres goldfish but other types and i dont want small fish but not jus 1 or 2 big ones in my tank.how can i make this transision?
I’m still cycling it. It’s a ten gallon. Everything was great until I added a couple neons from my big tank. It appeared that my betta got ich. Just two white spots on him. So, I treated and did water changes. I took the carbon filter out. As soon as I took the carbon filter out, all hell broke loose. It looks awful. There appears to be fuzz on my real plants and my fish look really stressed. There are no white spots on anyone now. But, still fuzz on the plants and looks like a cottony fungus on one of the neons on his mouth. Can I treat this with water changes and salt? I can’t raise my water temp. The heater is not adjustable but the temp is 78. So, will water changes and salt do the trick? I don’t want to add another chemical if I don’t absolutely have to. Water changes – how often and how much? I did a 50% water change last night. The neons didn’t have ich and still show no signs of it. I’m out of test strips right now so I don’t know the water parameters.
I guess I should clarify. I started cycling with a fish – the betta. It might be a bacterial bloom but would it be on the fish too? I can’t move the betta to the big tank. I will replace the carbon filter. I know the drops are better, just don’t have the $50 for it right this moment. I had strips but the two year old put them in the toilet. Can I fix it with the fish in it?
I just picked up a 75 gallon tank. I have two goldfish that I want to move in there. I was thinking of Dojo Loaches. I like how they look and I like what I’ve read about their personality. Although I have only been able to find a few sites that said they were compatible with common goldfish. Would this work out between the two species? The only problem is I really want a fish that will eat algae not only on the bottom but off the glass, any suggestions?
