i was out on my dock and decided to drop pieces of ham in a clear spot in the weeds to watch fish eat. i saw a little striped mud turtle come and eat a piece, but i missed it. then i caught another, bigger one, but i let him go. the next day i saw a baby one at the edge on the water mostly under the dock so i carefully picked him up. i am keeping him in a 30 or 40 gallon fish tank. i know these guys dont like deep water so he is in shallow water that covers him but he can climb out of. i tried giving him mosquito fish ( small) but he didnt eat them. i bought turtle pellets but he hasnt eaten them. today i tried a slug, he looked at it and watched it but didnt eat it. he is about 2 and a half inches. i am going to make a beter tank set up for him. i am going to try to buy him a friend. he is curious and seems to like being held. plz dont coment saying ” let it go thats not nice” if he doesnt seem to be doing any good in about a week im going to let him go. ive had him for 2 days now and hes been starting to grow on me, i even named him michealangelo ( teenage mutant ninja turtles
). thank you =]
y do some ppl even bother replying to stuff if there not going to answer the question? cough. cough ” my turtle (ock” cough…….

I have a cooter living together with a guppy, a rosy barb, a pleco, and a zebra danio in a 20 gallon tank. I seem to have a nitrite, nitrate, and water hardness problem in my water. What can i do to fix this problem? I heard it helps to feed the turtle in a seperate container. Also, i want to know how to successfully keep fish and a turtle together, i know for a fact that it can be done as long as you get big fast fish, and my turtle is still a hatchling. for some reason, everytime i buy new fish they die really fast, but my old fish seem to be doing fine. why is this? How can i make the requirements for the turtle be compatible with the requirements of the fish?

I’ve had it for so long I forget since when. Like 3-4 years or something. It’s lying on it’s side breathing, but yeah I don’t think it can move. It’s turning all white too =[ There are 3 other fish, 2 just as old, and they’re completely fine. They’re all in a big tank and there is a filter. So is there a way for me to keep it alive and help it get better?

So I have 3 bumblebee platys, 2 dalmation mollies, 1 male betta and 2 apple snails in my 15 gallon fish tank.
I honestly do not care if any of the fish are pregnant. If they do give birth i’m not putting them into thoes silly little breeder things. They can live in the tank and let nature deal with their lives.
I’d like to add:
2-3 Pineapple swordtails. 1 male – 2 females. As I said, I really don’t care if they are pregnant. My betta who is 3 years old will probably hunt down the fry.
1 Fancy Male guppy and 2 females. I dought the fry will live :\ If any do, i’ll relise them into my larger 55g and they can live in there. Or i’ll give to my LFS.
And if your thinking Betta’s and Guppies. My betta is fine with them. He spent half his life with guppy fry in a 10 gallon tank. If your ever breeding betta’s put guppy fry in there. They teach the baby betta’s how to eat dried food (TIP)
Anyway, he doesn’t attack the adults but will eat fry,
Would this be okay stocking? Or overstocking? Oh and + My tank has a very good filter. It can go into tanks as big as 300L.
Thanks!
There is only 6 fish in the tank. LOL. I MIGHT PUT THEM MOLLIES INTO MY 55G but u must be able to add more fish. There are only 6, + The mollies are only small atm? I adopted them lol

African (Malawi) cichlid tank. 75 gallons, established. PH 7.5-8.0. Chichlid salt used. No plants, only rockscape. Bought 6 puffers ~8 weeks ago. Feed mosquito larvae, brine shrimp, krill. I feed them once a day. Occasionally skip a day. Also pellet, flake, cichlid food. The puffers don’t seem to eat these. No signs of illness. No problems with other fish in the tank. Found three of the puffers dead, two days ago. One is now sick. THe other two lay on the bottom but seem to have revived and are swimming around None of them have looked sick- no ich, fungus, etc. Help. I really like these guys and am not sure what to do. Is the Ph too high for them? Not enough or too muh salt? No cover? Wrong food? looked them up on the net but cannot find the answers to these questions. I have a community tank and a guppy tank I could move them to if the ph is an issue (they are 7.0)- but if so, how do you do it without shocking them by the ph change? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How does an underground aquarium filter work? I’ve heard they don’t work as well, and I’m curious why?

I have a beta three small cory cats and a baby bristlnosenose plecco. the corycats are less than an inch each, and the plecco is about an inch and a half. The beta is a common sized. I have them in a filterd 3 gallon tank right now. The plecco stays on the filtrer, and the three corys swim around the bottom. They don’t seem cramped, but apperently thay are overcrowed. I just bought the tank from petco, but the light broke anyways, so I have toreturn it, and I think I’ll get a 10 gallon, that should be big enough. How do I do this, since you have to leave the tank running for twenty four hours? Should I put all the fish in a tupaware box tonight, return the 3gall, get the twenty and then leve it running and the fish in the box for 24hours? I cannot part with the fish… i’m to attached! I can get a bigger tank, but what do I do with the for the 24 hour settling period?
Thanks for being so helpful(: My computer blocked those two sites… Can you tell me some pointers from them? I don’t know how to toggle with my iesecurity D:
Thats a good idea Daniel, but I can’t have the three and the ten at the same time. I have to return the three before I get the ten. I can do the waiting, but I don’t know were to keep thefish withing that week…
