Since my 8 year old goldfish is on his last fins, I will soon be redoing my tank. I have heard that tetras (mollys, neons, etc) are easier to take care of. Even with one goldfish, the tank gets dirty quickly (have filter and don’t feed too much)
Also, it is a 4 gallon tank. I know larger is better, but it is my parents house and I am limited on space. (They don’t want a large tank even though I take care of it).
Any ideas, or links to sites would be great.

The gold fish is about 2.5-3 inches and stopped growing several years ago.
I just got a 2.5 gallon Mini Bow Desktop Aquarium fish tank it came with a carbon filter. I have three female Betta’s in the tank. The filter does seem to pick up the poop’s that end up on the bottom of the tank. The tank is not in direct sunlight so there shouldn’t be much algae billed up. I think I should change 25% of the water once a week. But how often should I do a full water change.The Betta’s eat almost all there food and pick at the grave so there isn’t much uneaten food. So uneaten food shouldn’t make the water too dirty. So knowing this how often should I do a partials water change and a full water change?
Also I asked at Petsmart if this tank would be big enough for 3 female Betta fish and the answer was yes. So please only answer my question that I asked thank you.
