Sleepy Emerald Swift?

I have purchased an emerald swift roughly 2 weeks ago and have set up a proper enclosure according to nearly all literature I have read. (He) is in a 20 gallon long aquarium with coconut husk bedding, lots of plants, branches and hiding spots. The is a basking area with a spot lamp under an elevated piece of driftwood that is around 90-95 degrees (which he basks in quite often), a UTH under the cave created by the driftwood (where he often times borrows and sleeps under), and uvb T5 florescent lighting strip across the entire tank. The cool end (75-85 degrees) has a bunch of haworthia succulents and frog moss to keep the humitidty up and I mist the cool end (and the swift) daily to keep the humidity with warm treated water. I give him crickets which he is really hit or miss at getting and some meal worms which he hasn’t eaten yet. There’s the background story…here’s the issue. He’s always sleeping! He moves from place to place every now and then but its in between some pretty intense napping. I heard these lizards are supposed to be pretty active during the day. He still poops well and isn’t losing any weight, but he is either the laziest swift in the world or there is something wrong. Don’t get me wrong…when i mist him, he sometimes freaks out and runs all over the place, so he has the ability.

where should i go to c a shark aquarium, specially the White shark in CA?

Can the light in an aquarium up the temperature too much?

I have a 10 gallon tank, filtered and with a heater. I live in MA and currently the water inside the temp is at about 78 degrees, this weekend I got a new hood for it and noticed that the temperature rose to almost 82 degrees. I have a male betta, two sunburst platies and a cory cat in there right now. Plan on getting 2 or 3 more things in a couple of weeks. Do I need to lower the temp of the heater during the day while the lights are on or can the fish deal with the temp range? They all seem happy and there are no problems with aggression etc.

Stocking a 10 gallon aquarium?

A teacher at my school has 5 serape tetras, 1 molly, 1 platy, and 1 oto in a 10 gallon aquarium with is whisper 5-15 gallon filter. Is her tank overstocked??? Also, what would be some good stocking potions for another teacher’s 10 gallon aquarium with an aquaclear 5-15 gallon filter including guppies, otos, and platies?
No. You guys don’t get it. (except for danielle) In one teacher’s tank she has 5 serape tetras, 1 molly, 1 platy, and 1 oto. Another teacher has an empty tank and asked me to help stock it. She wants guppies, platies, and otos.

what are the best Humane Treatment of Animals?

http://www.islamreligion.com/articles/185/

God, the Creator of human beings and animals, has made animals subservient to us. We depend on animals for the food we eat and the milk we drink. We bring animals into our homes for love and companionship. We survive critical illness and live longer because of biomedical research on animals. We visit to zoos and aquariums to gain an appreciation for the spectacular diversity of life on earth. We benefit from specially trained dogs that detect drugs, guide the blind, and assist the disabled. God says in the Quran:

“And the cattle, He has created them for you. You have in them warm clothing and (other) advantages, and of them you eat. And therein is beauty for you, when you drive them back (home) and when you send them out (to pasture). And they carry your heavy loads to regions which you could not reach but with distress to yourselves. Surely your Lord is Compassionate, Merciful. And (He made) horses and mules and asses that you might ride upon them and as an ornament. And He creates what you know not.” (Quran 16:5-8)

The mercy of Islam extends beyond human beings to all living creations of God. Islam prohibits cruelty to animals. Fourteen hundred years ago, long before the modern animal rights movement began with the publication of Peter Singer’s book, “Animal Liberation,” in 1975, Islam required kindness to animals and cruelty to them a sufficient reason for a person to be thrown into the Fire!

Calculus Optimization problem. Please help!?

An aquarium wants a closed rectangular saltwater fish tank with a square base to have a volume of 12800 cubic feet. If it costs $20 per square foot of acrylic for the bottom and top of the tank, and $100 per square food for the four sides, find the dimensions that will minimize the cost of constructing the tank, .

How do I get rid of black algae in my aquarium?

For about 2 weeks I have had algae problems, and its especially bad this week. I clean my tank every week, but the algae grows back right away. I had one live plant in there and I took it out a week ago because it got mushy. But the algae is black! SO yesterday I went to petco, and bought an algae sponge, a gravel filter, a new filter pad, and a Cory Catfish. I cleaned the entire thing and did like a 40% water change. The algae was all gone and I just checked on my fish and the algae is back!! Its only been a day!

HOW DO I GET RID OF IT?!?!?!

I’m going to get another cory cat to keep up with the work but what else can I do?
It’s a 10 gallon with 4 tiger barbs and 1 cory cat at the moment, but I’m gonna get 1 more tiger barb and 1 more cory cat.
I only feed them once a day.
