I recently had all my fish die to some unknown thing, it was not a water problem as my water parameters were absolutely excellent but could have been due to maybe some toxin I couldn’t test for or a parasite?
So my local fish expert told me that if the last of my fish died that it might come down to stripping the tank down and cleaning it. The last of my fish died, so after much sighing I drained the tank, cleaning the filter in the water, cleaned my ornaments and the gravel in some warm-hot tap water, and cleaned out the tank with about 65mls of bleach in about 4-5L of hot water. I also cleaned the heater and the gravel filter in there with this solution by just using a sponge dipped in the water to clean everything in there, and then I wiped this all down with tap water a few times before leaving it to air dry completely overnight. Today (the following day) I filled the tank up about half way and rinsed it all out again before draining most of the water and then filling up the entire tank. What should I do now to get rid of any more bleach if there is any? I don’t smell any in there, just the aquarium smell.
So it would be okay to just use my stress coat? Will leaving the water in there to stand for another 2-3 days help, so the chlorine can evaporate? My partner said we wouldn’t have used anymore then 150mls of bleach in about 5L of water. I’ve heard if any traces are left, it could kill the new fish?
