What is the best island in Hawaii to visit?

I’ve heard ouaho is the best, but i’ve also heard other Islands are. Any Hawaii locals have any adivice? I really want to shop and go to a beach and go to aquariums and maybe swim with dolphins. Any suggustiions? thx

How many Bala Sharks / Kissing Gourami would be good in a tank together?

I just bought my wife a 29 gallon aquarium for my wife’s birthday. She wants to get some Kissing Gourami and Bala sharks. I’m somewhat new to this aquarium thing. I’ve been reading a lot about it, but I can’t find info on how many would be good. I don’t want to get to many, of course. What would be a good “mix” of these two species? 3 of each? 2 of one and 3 of another?

What type of catfish is peaceful, stays small and only needs one to be happy?? I have had cory cats but I don’t have room for 6 more fish. 33 gallon tall tank with mollies and rummy nose tetras.

Is this normal for my tarantula?

I have a pet tarantula and it has one of those hollow logs in it’s aquarium. Well my tarantula burrowed an exit to the back through the substrate and kicked out a whole bunch of substrate out of the front and covered it with webbing.

I know a tarantula is not a reptile, but there is no spider section. So I figured I would go according to pet shop etiquette.

Now is this normal, or do I have a tarantula that is exceptional when it comes to engineering? And if it is normal, what on earth is she doing in there?
Oh sorry, it’s a Chilean Rose Hair if that makes any difference.

Daylight halogen bulbs? any 10 watt ones?

I just found out about daylight spiral bulbs and replaced the normal CFL in my desk lamp on the side of my heavlily planted aquarium with the daylight one and I was completely stunned at the difference. It looks so much more natural, sicne the kelvin was 6500 as oppsoed to the regular CFL which was around 2500. SO now I want to replace the 2 10 watt halogen bulbs that come with the lighting fixture with some halogen bulbs that have around 6500 K or are daylight halogen bulbs. The problem is that the fixture says not to use above 10 watts so are there any halogen bulbs that has that high of a kelvin rating and are only 10 watts. (is it dangerous to use ones with a wattage above the maximum fo the fixture ie: how)?

David Blaine’s latest stunt is spending a week living in an 8-foot acrylic sphere filled with water.
The 33-year-old magician, shirtless and with an oxygen tube in his mouth, slid into his snow globe-like “human aquarium” Monday at Lincoln Center.
In a week, he will remove the device and attempt to hold his breath underwater longer than the record of 8 minutes, 58 seconds.
He also will try to escape from 150 pounds of chains and handcuffs during the breath-holding finale.

How do I bring condition of fishes to the notice of Petsmart?

I was in Petsmart few days back shopping stuff for my goldies and I stopped by their aquarium area to watch the fishes. I was heartbroken to look at the condition of those fishes and it really made me very sad. The goldies had all turned black due to bacteria infection and fungus, rotten fins and some where almost dead and others where nibbling on the dead ones and most of them where going to die because they were completely diseased. I felt it was very inhuman behaviour on the part of store and of course i understand they are doing the business but as a pet owner I felt deeply sad for those creatures. I wanted to know if other people have also observed similar scene at their local pet store or is it just my local store that treats the fishes that way? Have you ever done anything to bring it to the pet stores notice? What would be the right way of dealing with this situation without offending the owners?
