I would like to start a salt water aquarium, and ideally have an anemone and a clown fish. I understand that it is quite a challenging hobby, so I plan to get the tank cycling with live rock and sand for a few months while I research. I was leaning toward buying a nano cube or aqua pod, but they are way too expensive. I did find a used 24 gal nano cube in my area, however now I am uncertain if that is enough space, and whether the lighting will be adequate. I have a 20gal topfin but I have heard that saltwater will wear away the sealant. Money is somewhat of an issue, but I don’t want to have to upgrade later because the tank wasnt adequate or something. Please give me your two sense. I am relatively knowledgeable about freshwater. Thanks for reading!
I also wanted to mention that I want fish and a reef tank. I liked the nano cube bc it doesnt require a sump bc of the filtration compartments in the back. I would probably add a protein skimmer and possibly a chiller.
Thank you both for the info. It was very helpful. I am glad you both recommend the cube. I guess my other question is would it be cheaper to buy an acrylic tank and buy the accesories seperately? Someone on another question said that the cube package is a rip off and it is cheaper to buy everything seperately. Would you advise me to purchase the used one for $100 with older lights and half are acintic (does this mean for a reef?).Also, the cooling fans have a hum, dont know if that means they will break soon or what.
