Marine Aquarium stocking and setup advice.?

After receiving a 40gal. (36″x18″x16″) from my friend, after months of wanting to setup a new tank, finally ready to. After much research, I have decided 100% to go marine. My only other experience with fish keeping is my 29gal freshwater, which I am very happy with. I am new to saltwater but definitely am confident I can do it. I know I still have much to learn but from the research I have done here are my questions so far:

What filter? I was thinking Eheim Classic 2215, but have heard, altough very good, not the best for saltwater.
I’m going to have live sand and live rock, and eventually coral once the tank matures.

I plan on initially adding maybe 45lbs of live rock. How many lbs for a 40 gal for adequate filtration w/o a mechanical?
What/how many power heads for the rock and eventually corals?
Which protein skimmer would be adequate for this 40 gal? Still need to read up more on skimmers..

Here is what I’d like to stock:

Kaudern’s Cardinal (Pterapogon kauderni) x 1
Bicolor Pseudochromis (Pseudochromis paccagnella) x 1
Purple Pseudochromis (Pseudochromis porphyreus) x 1
Six Line Wrasse (Pseudocheilinus hexataenia) x 1
Ocellaris Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) x 1
Yellow Damselfish (Amblyglyphidodon aureus) x 1
Four Stripe Damselfish (Dascyllus melanurus) x1
Blue Sapphire Damselfish (Chrysiptera springeri) x1

Most likely gonna order from liveaquaria.com Any concerns with that list?
Is that over or understocked?

Any information/links very appreciated. Happy new year.

Coralife compact fluorescent– freshwater/ saltwater lights?

I noticed Coralife has the aqualife power compact for freshwater and saltwater. If there any difference in the 2 other than a small price difference?

The freshwater one comes in a green box, the saltwater has one in yellow and one in red (the red is twice the wattage as yellow).

I bought the one that comes in a yellow box for a freshwater planted aquarium. Should I return it and go for the other one? Does the one made for freshwater have a different bulb?

Thanks!

Aquarium Salt or not??

I have a 50 gal. acrylic planted aquarium with 12 fish(2 red-eye tetra, 3 other kind of tetra,1 black molly, 1 silver molly, 2 blue mickey mouse platys,2 algea eaters, 1 albino cory catfish) and an african frog..I use a Magnum 350 Pro Canister filter, heater, w/1 18″ bubble wand…. What are pros and cons of using aquarium salt? Would you consider it beneficial to the aquariums ecosystem? Can the salt be used if you have plants? Will the salt muck up my filter and my bio-wheels? Does the salt do anything to help make tap water safer for the fish?

Oh my, I apologize for so many questions.. For my fishes sake, I need to know..!.!.! Thanks! Much Appreciated!

tropical aquarium set-up ideas? please and thank you?

i have a 10 gallon aquarium with ten pounds of gravel and 4 plastic plants, some seashells, etc. i also have a filter and a heater. i also also have water conditioner, a siphon, a bucket, etc.

i also also also have 50 dollars.
so what i’m wondering is what people like to keep in these alleged 10 gallon aquariums with all this fish-related paraphernalia. i’d like to keep tropical fish, and i’m highly interested in bumblebee gobies, except that my friendly neighborhood fish store does not carry this delightful breed, so i am left looking for other alternatives.

long story short, i’m wondering what kind of aquarium set-ups people will recommend to me, so please give me your opinion! thank you kindly.
these ideas are alright… brackish water is fine as well. my original plan was to buy bumblebee gobies and african dwarf frogs. the tiger barbs interest me, but i hate to admit that i very much dislike betta fish and mollies. sorry. i’ve had terrible experiences with bettas… ghost shrimp are interesting… i’m going to wait for a few more suggestions. thank you, though :]

(My tank is saltwater)

which size aquarium for these fish?

i already have a 30 gallon but was asking people about saltwater aquariums and everyone says that later on i would want to upgrade to a bigger tank size so was wanting to buy a 75 gallon or 72 gallon bow front. which do you think is better for a (FO). with 2 false percula clown fish, 1 falco hawkfish, and one dwarf angel – a coral beauty? 30 Gallon or 75/72? appreciate the help

How to go about raising baby platy fish in aquarium?

Hi all, today i made an exciting discovery when i looked into my 45 gallin aquarium and found 3 baby fry. Immediately knew that they were the young of my red wag platy’s, for they are the only paired fish i have in the tank.

I have never seen successful hatching or laying of eggs for that matter in my tank.

I have never raised fish before I admit but I am not super excited in seeing if I can mature these young fish. What I have done is created a small, in-tank nursery, which is filled with tank water, and is suspended in the tank to maintainn temperature. I added some minor gravel and a small plant for I have noticed the 3 fry enjoy hiding and clinging to plants for protection. I did this because I have a few angel fish who I am certain would more than enjoy eating the babies.

So my question is what should i change about my set up if it needs to be changed at all, and how do I feed and keep the babies healthy,

Thanks, im stoked to see if i can help them live! *putting them back in the main tank scares me for there are too many fish that i fear would ea them*
45 gallOn *

Will this be okay?????????

I want to get 3 pictus catfish, 10 tiger barbs, and 3 hatchet fish in a 30 gallon aquarium with a sandy substrate bottom and tons of places to hide. And by the way pictus catfish only get 4 in. and don’t tell me anything else.
harper and aqua girl you are both wrong for the fact that they only get 4 in. liveaquaria is wrong and tiger barbs are fine even marine bioligists say its fine
