What is this thing?

I just bought some plants from a pet store to put in my aquarium. The water was mighty dirty so i pulled the plants out and examined the water. Right away i noticed these guys shooting around.
They kinda bend inwards when crawling around or just chilling, but then like straighten out and bounce around.
They cling onto poop that is in the container.
Are these things ok to put into my fish tank? Its a freshwater tank with Tetras, platys, a red-tail shark and a Beta fish.
The reason i consider adding them is because they might make for good food for my fish =). The tank they came in had fish in it and many different plants+snails.
they are fairly large for an aquarium bug. Not big, but you don’t have to look hard to see them bouncing around in the bag.
Help is much appreciated! Thanks!
Akeel – Problem Solved!! rofl, not worth it. Going into the brook outside of my house. They can go downstream somewhere and feed off mosquito larva. Darn mosquito’s.
I’ll feed my fish freeze-dried blood worms instead.. that’ll be their treat.
Thank god i didn’t just pour them into the tank and instead took them out and checked the water before hand.
not a mozzie larvae, it’s mostly clear with a black line going down it and a black stomach.
it looks like a water version of a grub, to be honest.
