Transferring and moving fish to different tanks?

I currently have a 10g tank. In it are 2 australian rainbow fish,4 corydoras, and 1 otocinclus. In 4-8 weeks I am going to add fish into a 15g aquarium((tank is being cycled)). How do these set-ups sound?

For the 10g I am going to put in 4 guppies, 3 platies, and 2 golden zebra danios. (all males) I am also adding 2 more otos to the current 1 in the tank.

For the 15g I am going to put in my rainbows and corydoras with the addition of 3 otocinclus.

***Sound good or am I overcrowding my tanks?Anything you think I should add?***

What would be a good tropical fish species to care for in an indoor aquarium?

I have had a two and a half gallon with a fiter and heater in there. I have had tetras in there, but they keep dying. And also i would like a change of fish. Do you know of any tropical fish species that I could get that would be easy to care for? ~Thanks!

Orange Bush Fish – Anyone have info?

Hello everyone! I have some questions about a seemingly hard-to-find fish that caught my eye in a tropical fish book. The book called it an “Orange Bushfish”, although a search on Google didn’t pull up very much. The scientific name got me much more information – Ctenopoma ansorgii. The book (and some websites) showed it was an anabantid.

It’s a really beautiful fish, and I was thinking about going to my local fish shop and requesting them to order one.

I’m just wondering if anyone has any experience with this fish. I have a tank with a Paradise fish, Blue Gourami, and 5 gold barbs, and I’m concerned that my Paradise fish and this Orange Bush fish would have a conflict with one another. D:

That, and would it be expensive (for me, meaning over $10-15)? Does it need any special diet? Tank conditions? The searches I made on Google came up with two sites that listed completely different tank environments for the same fish.

Thanks to anyone who knows. I just wanted to research this fish a little before I go and buy it to realize I can’t properly take care of it.

Any Dangers in Aquarium Cleaning?

Is it dangerous to clean aquariums? I have heard of fish TB, but how common is it really? I’ve always been paranoid that fish have all kinds of diseases…so some one please lay my fears to rest!

I’m asking because I’m interested in a job at a certain pet store chain…but one aspect of it is cleaning fish tanks.

insect in my aquarium?

What is this thing?

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y64/DarKApheX/thing.jpg

I just bought some plants from a pet store to put in my aquarium. The water was mighty dirty so i pulled the plants out and examined the water. Right away i noticed these guys shooting around.

They kinda bend inwards when crawling around or just chilling, but then like straighten out and bounce around.

They cling onto poop that is in the container.

Are these things ok to put into my fish tank? Its a freshwater tank with Tetras, platys, a red-tail shark and a Beta fish.

The reason i consider adding them is because they might make for good food for my fish =). The tank they came in had fish in it and many different plants+snails.

they are fairly large for an aquarium bug. Not big, but you don’t have to look hard to see them bouncing around in the bag.

Help is much appreciated! Thanks!
Akeel – Problem Solved!! rofl, not worth it. Going into the brook outside of my house. They can go downstream somewhere and feed off mosquito larva. Darn mosquito’s.

I’ll feed my fish freeze-dried blood worms instead.. that’ll be their treat.

Thank god i didn’t just pour them into the tank and instead took them out and checked the water before hand.
not a mozzie larvae, it’s mostly clear with a black line going down it and a black stomach.
it looks like a water version of a grub, to be honest.

Can Someone Please Answer A Question About My Aquarium?

I have just bought 2 Senegal (Dinosaur) Bichirs and 1 Dragon Goby. Along with these i have tiger barbs serpae tetras black fin sharks upside down catfish khulii loaches 2 giant danios, 4 platys 4 fairly large Lyretail Mollies a blue gourami. I wonder how this will work out as the Bichirs and Goby grow larger. I have been told that the barbs are too fast and agressive to get eaten. and the mollies are quiet large. I wonder if this will work.
You all will probably will laugh your heads off, but i have all of these fish in a 10 gal tank.
