Pet Trout Feeding Frenzy

In this video, it shows me feeding the 3 pet trout I have raised since they were only 3-4 inches each starting in September of 2008. These fish all grew to be 13-15 inches before the passed away in April-May 2009, mainly due to water temperature fluctuations raising and lowering daily, even with careful planning to keep the temperatures colder and below a consistent 70 degrees. Trout can be one of the toughest fish to keep. I was surprised i was able to keep them as long as I did. On average, good, healthy trout will grow 1 inch per month, and that's what these trout did. Even in 120 Gallon cycled aquarium with all the right natural stuff for them to keep the water clean, oxygenated, ph balanced and mostly chemical free, these babies thrived for quite a while. If you really want to know, yes I did eat them the same day they passed away. They were good eatin too. They were free from any diseas or any other kind of exposure to mercury or chemicals most of their lives, which made them even healthier and safer to eat than most wild fish out there. The UV sterilizer really helped a lot in this process. Most of all, especially during the warmer months, trout definitely need to have an aquarium chiller.

Can you keep a bass in a planted aquarium?

I am planning on keeping a peacock bass in my aquarium. I am wondering if i could keep it in a tank with live plants in it?

Thanks

How much would it cost to start a 10 gallon freshwater aquarium?

I am planning on starting a 10 gallon freshwater aquarium. I can’t really find many 10 gallon starter kits online or in stores. Would it be cheaper just to buy everything separately or in a kit? And where can I find a 10 gallon starter kit. I live in the D/FW Texas area. I need info on prices minus the fish. I’m just worried about supplies at this point. Help PLEASE?!?!?!

making a DIY aquarium heater?

My question is about algae in aquariums…?

I just asked this question in the fish forum but think I will get better answers here:
I have learned in order for algae to grow in a tank it needs light, oxygen, carbon dioxide and nutrients. I understand that, but what I don’t understand is how is it introduced into a controlled environment such as your home aquarium? Is there already something in our water that give the base for it to grow, or in the air, or what? I just don’t understand how it can just “appear”. If I have a garden indoors, weeds wouldn’t start shooting up everywhere unless the spores or seeds were introduced from somewhere. Do these simple organisms work the same way? I would only assume that somehow something there already exist for it to grow and given the right conditions, then thrive… anyone know this?
Thanks for your answers… I am very curious! ;-)
