Update of my ten gallon fish tank.

This is my ten gallon fish tank with an Opaline Gourami, my sister’s common goldfish, a Thick-Lipped Gourami, five ghost shrimp, two snails and an african dwarf frog. I hace three fake plants and three kinds of live plants, two of them I dont know their name but the very large and “leafy” ones are hybrid aponogetons which came in bulbs when I bought them from Walmart. The substrate is play sand.

Can anyone help with this aquarium issue?

I recently found out that my son was overfeeding the fish in his 10 gallon aquarium. There was at least 1/4 inch of food in the rocks and the water was so cloudy you could not see the fish. I used my gravel vacuum to clear out most of the food and did a 50% water change. I also used the net to scoop out the remaining food/debris that was floating. The problem is the water is a little better but still cloudy and the room now STINKS. I would clean the whole aquarium but we have small fry hiding and I am afraid I may not be able to catch them. Do I keep performing 25% water changes to get the water clean? Does anyone have any other suggestions. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Rickets Reef – 90 Gallon Build (Day 40) Small Update

A small update before my camcorder is gone for a while. Things are starting to look good in the tank.

Can someone help me pick out a light for my FW aquarium?

I’ve been reading around and I’m really confused as too what type of light and lighting fixture i need.

I have a hood and a light already but I don’t think the light is really any good, seeing as my elodea are browning in the middle.

I have a 30 gallon planted fw tank (no fish). What kind of light do I need and what kind of fixture? the one I have only holds on light strip.

Please do not suggest something really expensive like T5 lighting and fixture.

Thanks.

Help getting an aquarium set up?

OK, I have an aquarium and that’s it. First, what can I use to clean it. I know soap is bad, but is just water the only answer?
Also, I’m clueless when it comes to setting one up. I have no idea what I’ll need, what works best.
Do I need a scad load of equipment or is there just one handy-dandy gadjet that does all the work?
Oh, and I’m certain I just want fresh water, run of the mill kinda fish. Nothing fancy.
Please, any help would help. :)
Thanks so much Kurt! Now I’m not so scared.

When can you add fish to your fresh water aquarium?

Okay so we just set up our fresh water aquarium again. Its about a 20 gallon tank, and I forget how long we should wait until we can add new fish to the aquarium?
