Is it best to use sand as a bottom for a Dwarf African Frog aquarium, if so, how do you clean the sand?

I’ve read that sand is best when having a tank for you dwarf african frog’s only. Though I also read they’ll sometimes eat the sand, by accident, when trying to get food. But I know it’s safer for their delicate skin. But how would I clean it? I couldn’t use the usual gravel vacuum, it would suck all the sand up, but it would still need to be cleaned. He’s in a tank with regular aquarium rock now, but I’m concerned because I read that sometimes they will mistake a tiny piece for food & could eat it & die from it. So what is best? Any tips on this is appreciated. Thanks!

Aquarium ornaments / Rocks in particular for fresh water tank?

My husband is an avid rock collector and he has this stalagmite or stalactite (can’t remember which , it does have a lot of growth rings) any way it is very large with a huge hole through the middle, it looks perfect for my aquarium I put it in there last night and then remembered that I didn’t know what body of water it came from (cave, salt water or fresh water…I don’t know) So, I took it out until I could talk to you guys.

All I know is , it’s big and makes a perfect cave for my little fish, when I originally put it in there it let off a stream of bubbles (it was washed before hand), but I was worried that it might put minerals that are not suppose to be in a fresh water tank. I love my fish very much, and I don’t want to put anything in there that can potentially hurt them. What do you think..is it safe or not?

is this young leopard tortoise lighting arrangement ok?

I have my son’s young leopard tortoise in a 20G long aquarium.
My lighting fixture for the UVB stretches across the entire aquarium. Should the UVB just be on one side? Or can I fix this by making a shaded area for him?
I also have a heating pad on one side to create his basking area. The shaded area of course would be on the opposite side.

Here’s another clip of our 240 gallon acrylic saltwater aquarium.

How to prep aquarium water?

I have a 10-gallon tank with 2 crayfish and 5 fish that my dad caught in the river and decided to put into the tank (yes, this aquarium sounds a bit questionable, but bear with me). It’s almost time for a water change. I know I’m supposed to use the gravel vacuum to clean the tank and remove the 10 – 15% water. But how do I go about replacing the water? Do I pour tap water in the tank, and immediately put the chlorine remover in (how would I estimate how much remover I put in? The instructions on the bottle only pertain to 10-gallons of water, not one or one-and-half-gallons (10-15%))? Do I just have a 10-gal bucket of pre-prepared water and use that over the weeks (I really don’t have the storage or strength to keep and carry a 10-gal bucket of water every week)?
