Aquarium heaters and tropical fish?

I am getting 2 endler’s live breeders, 3 jumbo neon tetras, 3 head and tail light tetras, 2 black neon tetras and 2 assorted mickey Mouse Platties.

I’m putting them in a 29 gallon tank. (I’ve decided against a small aquarium for anyone who read my past questions.)

they say the temperature for the fish are between 62 and 84 degrees for some and 68 to 72 degrees for the others.

I have a tank heater, but I think it heats between 78 degrees and 82 degrees (that’s the lowest and highest)

Would it be better to just do room tempurature? after 24 hours its been a solid 66 degrees. (It’s not near any doors, windows fireplaces. The only thing is we have radiant heating in our floors, but it’s off the floor on a thick end table.)

should I use the heater or no?

Is it recommendable to have an aquarium heater for freshwater fish??

The temperature is on average 68-70 in our place anyway.
But not sure if just a tank a water would stay this temp w/out a heater inside
Having tropical fish you have to have a heater, however what abt plain freshwater fish?
Looking into getting an aquarium soon :o )
