2.5 gallon tank some ideas please :)?
ok, my black mollie had little babies yesterday, but i could only save two(she probably ate the others).
So I bought a little 2.5 gallon tank with filter and some unreal aquarium plants until there big enough to put into the other aquarium without getting eaten.
So my question is what could i do with my little 2.5 gallon tank once the baby fish don’t need it anymore. I know i can’t put any fish in there, just looking for some other ideas. (don’t like male bettas)
also, a second question:
is my thirty gallon aquarium full?
it has this in it:
5 brilliant rasporas
3 cory cats
2 blue rams
(and the 2 molly babies once their big enough)
all of these fish get about 2.5 inches big
could i put more fish in or am i full?

you should have one gallon per inch of fish….to answer you tank question….
as for the 2.5 gal….well i use my 2.5 gal to house feeder fish for my turtle……but that probably doesn’t help you……how about female bettas LOL they have those too……you could use it to grow live plants for your fish……fish love them…….other than that there isn’t much use for them…….
You could keep an African Dwarf frog, but make sure you feed him frozen bloodworms. He wiill be a little cramed, but that is all that will fit. So…
- 1 afrrican dwarf frog
- 2 ghost shrimp
Since you don’t like bettas, I would do an invertebrate tank. Snails and shrimp have a very low bioload, and you can add a couple of live plants in there for the shrimp to cling onto.
Fast, self-reproducing snails like malaysian trumpet snails, ramshorn snails, and pond snails are easily found. Apple snails(golden inca and black mystery snails at most fish stores) won’t overrun your tank and are available too. If you want something rarer, try buying it from people rather than stores. Assassin snails for example, go for ~$4 each. They team up on other snails and eat them.
For shrimp, you can try ghost shrimp. They’re sold in large numbers as feeders(sort of like how many fish stores have cheap feeder goldfish). You can get them for as little as 5-10 cents each depending on your area. In my area, they go for 50-60 cents(a lot more, but still cheap). Red cherry shrimp are usually 20 for $20 shipped online(try aquariacentral buy/sell section). Better coloration, but costs more.
Btw, you might want to just keep the 2.5g for another batch of molly fry. Mollies can store sperm and have fry multiple times without a male, so in about 6 weeks you could easily have more fry(babies).
As for your 30g, I think your stocking is fine. All your fish stay small and have a very low bioload. I would add another 2 or 3 cory cats since they like to be in groups, and another small school of fish. Neon tetras, cardinal tetras, rummynose tetras, and harlequin rasboras all stay small and look pretty good in schools.
Good luck
2.5g?….good shrimp and/or snail tank.
There are actually some fish that would function nicely in that…
the male Dario dario …aka Scarlet Badis…gets 1.25″ max (usually closer to 1″),female smaller.Pair is actually doable with 2-3 shrimp in that volume (with live plants…definitely no other fish).
Some other things can be done (there’s a “sub-culture” out there…)….

The 30g?
Looks fine from here….wouldn’t add anything .Although you could possibly get away with 2 more Brilliants(even add Scissor-Tails,they’ll school with Brilliants)…not really a high-load fish.
It’s a perfect tank for 5 endler live bearers….
great little fish, amazing colours.. black sand and background really make there colors pop.
they need a heater probably..i don;t know your room temp and temp stability.
good luck
